The Nicole Thomas Archive is a project funded by the Performing Arts Fund of the Leipzig performance artist Nicole Thomas.
The artist’s aim is to find and meet women worldwide sharing her name “Nicole Thomas”. For this purpose, the artist is contacting namesakes, inviting them to participate in the project by creating a profile in the Nicole Thomas Archive. Some of the women found in this way were visited by the artist and interviewed about their individual biographies. Accompanied by the Leipzig photographer Wenzel Stählin, who captured the facets of these different personalities in images.
My task was to design a web application for this archive. Browsing the archive should be intuitive and easy, so providing smooth and enjoyable User Experience und Interface was my main focus here. Using search and filter functions, profiles can be compared by birth years, places of origin and biography keywords.
The archive went online at the end of 2018.
