SICH (meaning “self”) is an audiovisual live performance in which image and sound are inspiring one another through improvised interaction. SICH is the result of my bachelor thesis at Stuttgart Media University. Alongside of my fellow students Hartmut Ulmer and Thomas Nathan we developed concept, design and the technical realization of this live cinema project. The musical part of the performance was covered by Stuttgart based musicians musique d‘ameublement.
SICH was performed publically on May 23rd 2012. It attracted many visitors.
SICH lets you see from the perspective of an unknown individual, moving through urban and natural environments letting his/her mind flow. Organic and crystalline figments of imagination are merging with real images. Additional video effects are shifting reality towards surreality.
Within the boundaries of this project Using vvvv I developed an audio-reactive, visual instrument that combined realtime processing of high-res footage with hardware-accelerated video synthesis and live post effects. This way the projected moving images could be a) manipulated via midi controllers and b) directly via the musical instruments of musique d’ameublement.
